A baby mobile is more than just a beautiful piece of decor to hang over your baby’s bassinet. Baby mobiles are designed to stimulate your little one’s emerging senses! The key, however, is finding a baby mobile that gently entertains without keeping your baby from sleep. Sky Mobile was designed with this in mind by celebrated paediatrician and sleep specialist Dr. Harvey Karp.

Baby mobiles are designed to gently stimulate your baby’s brain, visual, and motor development—all while suspended over the bassinet…and safely out of reach. For instance, bassinet mobiles allow babies to practice focusing their eyes and honing their visual tracking skills. Of course, the ideal baby mobile gently engages your little one without keeping them up all night, like the Sky baby mobile for SNOO. Our mobile for SNOO features a high-contrast design on the underside of the clouds that helps babies practice their visual exercises. And it is free of lights and sounds that can keep your baby awake. Instead of the distracting bells and whistles, our Sky baby mobile for SNOO features nine billowy wool clouds that naturally sway to delight your baby…no batteries required.

As you shop for your little one, you may see baby bassinets with mobiles already installed. While baby mobiles are a delightful addition to a bassinet, we wanted to give families the flexibility to choose whether or not to use Sky Mobile, which is why we sell it as a separate SNOO accessory.

Sky Mobile was specially designed to attach to SNOO—we do not recommend attaching other mobiles to SNOO, since we have not tested them for safety. Sky can also be hung from the nursery ceiling, but it does not feature an arm attachment for the cot.

Yes! When installed and used correctly, baby mobiles are perfectly safe to use on a bassinet up until Baby is about 5 months old or or able to sit up. To ensure your baby mobile meets all manufacturing and safety guidelines, it is important to only purchase a baby mobile from a reputable retailer. (That means handmade and antique mobiles are not the safest choice.) And when it comes to SNOO, know that Sky is the only baby mobile made to fit safely and securely on our smart sleeper. (We recommend not attaching Sky to any other cot or baby bed.)

Unlike many baby mobiles that can only be used for 5 months—or until Baby can sit up—Sky Mobile can be used…forever! First, you can safely attach Sky to your baby’s SNOO. Then, once your baby becomes a SNOO graduate, you can detach the hanging part of the mobile from the rod and secure the clouds from the ceiling for a lovely piece of nursery decor! For safety reasons, please be sure your child cannot reach the hanging clouds from their sleep space. (Happiest Baby does not provide hardware for hanging the mobile from your ceiling.)

Sky Mobile easily swings out of the way when you need to put your baby in SNOO—or lift them out. But the baby mobile mount—plus the hook-and-loop fastener—are not designed to be regularly removed. If you want to take the SNOO baby mobile off for an extended period, we recommend simply pulling the baby mobile rod from the mount. And when you are ready to graduate from Sky, remove the tape from the underside of SNOO, hold onto the mobile mount where it is attached to SNOO, and gently extend the mount downward to release the bottom of the mount from SNOO’s platform. Pull the mount off of SNOO and—voila—you did it!
